Liger has taken a good start at the box office in the Hindi belts despite negative talk from the audience and critics alike. The debut film of Vijay Deverakonda has opened in the range of Rs. 4.00 to 4.70 crores, with another Rs. 1.30 crore coming in from the paid previews on Thursday. With this, the opening day of Liger, including paid preview, falls in the range of Rs. 5.50 crores, which is a very good start for a film featuring a debutant.

A Thursday release might have made the film a little more critics-proof with an opening day of approx. Rs. 7 crores. The mass belts have come on board in a big way, on par with the July release, Ek Villain Returnsand this is a positive sign. Liger opening day yet again proves the power of mass cinema and a well-made film in this space can do wonders at the box office.

The eyes are now on the weekend trend of the film, as the talk is negative and it’s all about the power of genre and eagerness to see Vijay Deverakonda on the big screen for the upward trend. There is a high possibility for Friday to be the best day, but we are living in the era of surprises and therefore it’s better to wait and watch how Liger fares in the Hindi belts over the weekend. A Rs. 35 crore plus total lifetime will be a respectable number for Liger.

Talking of opening, Liger has opened better than Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise in the Hindi belts. It’s the second-best opener to date for a Telugu-based debutant in the Hindi market after RR for Jr. NTR. It has opened approx. 1 crore more than the Allu Arjun film, which suggests that there was an interest in the audience to see Vijay Deverakonda. The run from here will be all content.
