Trailer with pottery, supplies worth $10,000 stolen from Cary hotel ::

— An artist visiting Cary for the Lazy Daze Arts Festival said his trailer full of pottery, a tent, tables and other items was stolen.

Robin Rodgers, a pottery artist from Atlanta, Ga., said the items stolen totaled over $10,000. The trailer he rented for the festival was stolen from the parking lot of his hotel in Cary Friday night.

Rodgers told WRAL News he attends art festivals around the country for a living, but he has now lost everything.

“Sometime this morning, a thief disconnected my rented U-Haul from my car and stole the entire trailer with ALL my work, display and text, pedestals, tables, covers, tools, risers, etc. Total Loss. We are devastated,” he posted on Facebook.

Rodgers and his wife were staying at the Hilton Garden Inn at 131 Columbus Ave. in Cary. He believes the thieves disconnected his trailer and put it on their own truck.

Surveillance video from the hotel caught the incident on camera, and Cary police are now looking for white Ford 150 and the U-Haul trailer, which has Pennsylvania tags.

A friend created a GoFundMe page for the artist, writing, “Art is Robin’s full-time career. He does many shows throughout the year around the country. Losing his inventory of work that he worked on all summer is not something that is easily replaced He will also have to replace the trailer, all of his exhibit fixtures and tent. In addition, he will be forced to cancel a number of his upcoming shows and lose revenue from that.”

On Sunday morning, the page had raised $2,875.

Lazy Daze, now in its 46th year, was held Saturday and Sunday at Cary’s Town Hall campus.
